WELLESLEY, Mass., June 27, 2018 – Several factors, such as emerging market growth, increasing awareness among consumers, rapid urbanization and rising populations, are contributing to growth of the global market for fabricated wooden home manufacturing, according to a new report from BCC Research.
In 2017, the industry was worth $57.5 billion and is estimated to reach a value of $78.7 billion by 2022, indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.5%, according to the recent report Fabricated Wooden Home Manufacturing: Global Markets to 2022.
Restraints facing the market include stringent deforestation regulations, increasing interest rates and the shortage of a skilled workforce.

“The U.S. is the largest market in terms of value and in the prefabricated wooden home manufacturing market,” the report notes. “Brazil and the U.S. are forecasted to have the fastest growth, growing at a CAGR of 10.2% and 9.2%, respectively.”
Use of Automation and Robotics to Improve Productivity
Prefabricated wooden home manufacturing companies are increasingly using automation and robotics applications in construction vehicles and equipment to improve productivity. Automation vehicles are equipped with sensors, cameras and GPS to obtain real-time data and assist companies in remote monitoring of a worksite. Companies have also integrated robotics and automation in their factory processes for manufacturing parts for prefabricated homes. Katerra is one example of a company that has implemented this technology.
