Global Market for Generic Drugs Projected To Reach $518.5 Billion in 2018, Growing At 11.5% CAGR

May 09, 2014

BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com) reveals in its new report, ENVIRONMENTAL SENSING AND MONITORING TECHNOLOGIES: GLOBAL MARKETS,the global environmental sensor and monitoring market is expected to grow to $17.6 million by 2019, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.9%.  The oceanic sensing category, the fastest growing segment overall, is growing at a steady 5.5% CAGR.

Environmental sensors and monitors, including those designed for terrestrial, oceanic, and atmospheric monitoring, comprise a critical subset of the overall sensors market. Indeed, a technological revolution is occurring in this area in terms of the capabilities of these devices, including specificity, size, sensitivity, and networking possibilities.

Terrestrial sensors and monitors, the largest sector of the overall market, is expected to reach nearly $3.9 million in 2019 and register a CAGR of 4.9%

However, driven by recent U.S. government investment in research and infrastructure, the oceanic sensors market, which was valued at just $523 million in 2013, is projected to jump to $717 million by 2019.

“Government sensor research activity around the world is significant, and it was enhanced in the U.S. by the 2009 Economic Recovery Act,” says BCC Research instruments and sensors analyst Kevin Gainer. “The act provided additional hundreds of millions of dollars to entities such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the government labs for research on environmental monitoring and sensors.”

ENVIRONMENTAL SENSING AND MONITORING TECHNOLOGIES: GLOBAL MARKETS provides an overview of the global market for environmental sensing and monitoring technologies, including analyses of global market trends, with data from 2013, estimates for 2014, and projections of CAGRs through 2019. It presents information on emerging growth areas, such as large-scale monitoring networks and breakdowns of sensor applications into categories including temperature sensing, moisture detection, and biological and chemical detection. In addition, this report includes profiles of overseas manufacturers as well as development stage companies in which the most innovative technologies are originating.
