WELLESLEY, Mass., Aug.16, 2018–Growing concerns for employee health, government regulations mandating their use and growing awareness of the harmful effects of radiation and toxic gasses are just a few of the factors fuelling growth of the dosimeters market, according to a report by BCC Research.
The industry expects to see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6% through 2022, when it could be worth more than $3.2 billion, according to the report Dosimetry: Technologies and Global Markets.
Major players in the market mentioned in this report include Ecotest, Fuji Electric, Fluke Biomedical, GasTech Australia, Landauer, Mirion Technologies, PTW and RAE Systems.
Research Highlights
“Because ionizing radiation is lethal to human beings, the measurement of radiation is crucial, especially for people who work in radiation environments,” noted BCC Research analyst and report author Ritam Biswas. “Radiation dosimeters whose specific application is the measurement of radiation doses are used in such environments, but their major application is in the medical, military and security, as well as space industries.”
Demand Growing for Portable and Handheld Gas Detectors
Demand is growing for handheld portable gas detectors, the report adds, due in part to their low cost, mobility and batteyr operations. Such units can be worn under a person’s belt or inside their clothing and monitor exposure over extended periods of time. Tightening health and safety regulations aimed at employees are also helping to boost portable gas detector use, with countries such as the U.K. mandating their use, for example, on ships with enclosed spaces. Overall, the growing popularity of handheld and portable gas detectors is having a moderate impact on the market currently but will have a high impact in the future.
