Wellesley, Mass., Aug 07, 2014 –BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com) reveals in its new report, COMMERCIAL FLOORING: NORTH AMERICAN MARKETS, the North American flooring market is expected to grow to $23.2 billion by 2018, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.1%. The commercial flooring segment is projected to move at a healthy CAGR of 4.6%.
Commercial carpeting dominates the overall commercial flooring market and is expected to grow to more than $2.4 billion in 2018, registering a 2.7% CAGR. In recent years, a portion of carpet revenue growth has come from traditionally broadloom applications switching to carpet tile. This is especially true in the corporate office market, which is by far the biggest part of the entire commercial market. Carpet tile now accounts for at least 50% of commercial carpet revenues.
"Commercial carpet manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to improve product quality and to keep their carpet lines fresh in the marketplace. One of the latest innovative concepts in carpeting receiving a lot of attention is LED light transmissive carpeting," says BCC Research analyst Lisa Marshall. "LED carpets help guide people around buildings, including safety exits and routes, enhance the ambiance and atmosphere of the interior of buildings combining lighting with design and color, and help de-clutter spaces by making information visible only when needed."
