Report Scope
The global market for eye & face protection is segmented into following categories:
Product Type:
Product type segment is categorised into safety glasses, protective goggles, face shields, welding helmets and laser safety glasses.
Face Mask: A surgical mask, also known as a face mask, is intended to be worn by health professionals during healthcare procedures. It is designed to prevent infections in patients and treating personnel by catching bacteria shed in liquid droplets and aerosols from the wearer's mouth and nose.
Safety Glasses: Safety glasses or spectacles, specifically refers to protective equipment that closely resembles common eye wear. To meet most national standards, spectacles must include side shields to reduce the ability of debris to get behind the lenses from the side. Safety glasses can often mount insert frames to mount prescription corrective lenses for users with suboptimal vision. Such insert frames are mounted behind the protective lens. In some applications, regular eye wear, if manufactured from high-impact materials, can be worn with removable side shields. Oversized spectacles are also manufactured, designed to sit over the users normal eye wear.
Protective Goggles: Protective Goggles are forms of protective eyewear that enclose the eye area in order to prevent particulates, infectious fluids, or chemicals from striking the eyes. Goggles come in two styles, Tight fitting eye protection that completely covers the eyes, eye sockets and facial area surrounding the eyes. Provides protection from impact, dust and splashes. Dust goggles, sometimes called direct ventilated goggles, are tight fitting eye protection designed to resist the passage of large particles into the goggles.
Face Shields: A face shield is a equipment used to protect wearer's entire face from hazards such as impact, splash, heat, or glare. With face shields, as with welding helmets and hand shields, the user is continually lifting and lowering the visor. To protect the eyes when the visor is lifted, spectacles should be worn underneath.
Welding Helmets: Constructed of vulcanized fiber or fiberglass and fitted with a filtered lens, welding shields protect eyes from burns caused by infrared or intense radiant light; they also protect both the eyes and the face from flying sparks, metal splatter and slag chips produced during welding, brazing, soldering and cutting operations.
Laser Safety Glasses: Laser eyewear is required for Class 3 and 4 laser use where irradiation of the eye is possible. Such eyewear is used only at the wavelength and energy/power for which it is intended.
End use Industry:
End use industry segment is categorised into six sub-segments: Construction, Manufacturing, Mining, Healthcare, Utilities and Transportation & Storage.
Construction: In this indsutry the eye and face protection equipments are used to avoid myriad of hazards, including flying nails, wood splinters, metal fragments or finer particles such as dust and grit created by cement mixing, sawing or chipping.
Manufacturing: In this arena, the equipments are used in chemical, food and machine manufacturing. They protect from Hazardous* chemicals that pose a splash hazard, Highly reactive or explosive materials, dry chemicals and small amounts of hazardous liquid chemicals and Furnaces, molten metal or glass, heat, sparks and glare.
Mining: Most mining operations around the world have compulsory eye protection programmes which require the miner to wear safety spectacles, goggles, faceshields or a full facepiece respirator, depending on the operations being performed and the combination of hazards to which the miner is exposed.
Healthcare: The eyes are a gateway for infection to enter the body. So it is critical to protect your eyes, especially in environments where infection risks are present. In hospitals the risk for infection can be higher due to the chance of splatter from blood or other bodily fluids. Hence, safety guidelines recommend the wearing of a face-fit tested N95 or FFP3 respirator mask and surgical mask in the vicinity to catch microorganisms shed in liquid droplets and aerosols from the wearer's mouth and nose.
Utilities: This segment cover firefighting, power & energy and water industry. Workers have to wear eye and face protection to shiled from harmful radiations during working in the above sectors.
Transportation & Storage: This segment uses protective equipment in warehousing and logistics where hazardous materials are stored and transported.
